Hate it, leave it!
1/22/2010 11:20:00 AM

There are really weird people around us.

Yesterday when I was on my way to school and approaching Jurong east MRT Station, there was this Western Black talking loudly on his phone. And to every commuters' and my surprises, he was criticizing Singapore! He told his friend over the phone: " Singapore is fucking smelly and filthy.. And now I have to squeeze with those stupid Filipinos.. It is not a place for human to stay.. I wanna go back soon..." etc. Mr Black looks in his late 30s or early 40s. Almost all could hear him on the train cabin. I was rather pissed off then and if not for I have lessons I might have argued with him. So I just kept my eyes fixed at him. A foreign worker saw, looked at me and smiled.

Well, if Singapore really stinks, then please, Mr Black, go back to your own country, the one filled with perfumed atmosphere!

In order to improve Singapore's economy, the government has given entry to more and more foreign talents, new immigrants and workers. Now, Singapore is no long the 'original' Singapore, some new immigrants are still criticizing Singapore though they are staying here. Also during peak hours, public transports are saturated with passengers, jobs never enough to feed all the hungry job-seekers. Then the result is some Singaporeans will migrate to other countries. Is this what the Government really wants? I understand that everyone will be loyal to their own country, however I am not asking them to forget their roots and be loyal to Singapore. What everyone is expecting is the basic courtesy to the host country, the local people. At least not to criticize the country they visit publicly.

Anyway,

Hate it, leave it!
