I once told him, if I know that by accompanying me going route A wearily, he may not reach his ultimate destination, why don't he forgo the companion and switch to the better alternative which guarantees him home safely?
It is like a star may fall from the sky and land on your hands, then it seeps through your veins and swims inside your blood to be part of you. And when you have to put it back into the sky, it will most probably be the most heart-wrenching moment you will ever have to do. However when its your it will be yours, be it up in the sky or in your hands. One day, when its yours, it will fall from the sky again and hit you on your palms real hard that time, then you won't have to put it back to the sky again.
Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about that someone anymore, it's just realizing that the only person you have control over is yourself.
